Yes. Although both Gears of War 2 and Modern Warfare 2 were horribly broken at least 6 months after they came out.

Gears 2 had a multitude of game breaking bugs and worse matchmaking than Halo Master Chief Collection did at launch. After 6 title updates it was finally playable and good.

Modern Warfare 2 on the other hand was just a straight up poorly designed piece of shit with retarded balance.

Halo 3 was great. The customs games and forge more than made up for the multiplayer being slower and having a lower skill ceiling than Halo 2.

I think this is debatable, I think that 2 in the end had more creative and better customs due to not having forge. Meanwhile, reach had better customs then 3 because the forge was so good you could litrerally do almost anything.

On that note, It's interesting how the tons of added content and customs and modular reach had didn't make up for the few iffy things it did for most people

MW1 was unbalanced as FUCK. Machineguns were ridiculously OP, which is why they have been balanced to trash tier in all the COD games I've played since. Also, the map design was horrendously bad.

He's right though. Before seventh gen, dudebros mostly stuck to their Madden. FPS were widely seen as games for future school shooters. Then MLG started to become more prominent after Halo 2, and GoW became the dark and edgy shooter with a story about dudes being bros that would hook future dudebros. The rest is history.

I think it was partly just a subculture thing. xbox came with mics and people got used to talking, ps3 didn't so people didn't. When someone tried to communicate they mostly got ignored or muted.
