I wouldn't call the gameplay fun. The exploration/dungeons are ASS and the combat is one button weakness spam outside of bosses which are the only reason I'm still playing. The story is decent like you said but pretty predictable and the writing isn't really xenogears level.

While it is overly long, it also feels like it's cut short. It feels like the 4 empyrions should have had dungeons for themselves with Shigure/melchoir not being fought at once. Lots of fucking fluff that was unnecessary which could have gone to other areas.

I'm still glad I played it, a decent jRPG to quell me between the releases of persona 5/xenoblade 2. Is the post game shit worth it or is it more trash dungeon design?

What I like about modern tales games is that if I get sick of grinding, I just put it on auto. Let cpu fight while i browse /v/. Then go back once i hear victory music/speeches.

Tho i do make sure to fight every boss manually since they can actually kill ya.

The only way to extend combos is using resources like SG or BG so it's not like you can always have extended combo strings. The camera isn't better in my opinion but it's still fun, you can customize your arte trees pretty much how you want. So as long as you're not playing on easy and spam X on 'you decide' then you should have fun. I loved Berseria and I'm still loving it on my second play through.

Not that deep in but encountered my first bit of trouble.
How do you avoid shit like Horus's Blood Moon? The time between the tell and the cast seems way too short to do anything, since every input puts you in an ass-long attack animation you can't cancel out of. I basically had the choice between not attacking at all and let the casters handle it or get close and die.
Also, I don't get how to do mystic artes. The game tells me they're combo extenders, but up to this point every single one of them has ended any combo absolutely fucking dead, which is why I've already disabled the AI from doing them.
And what's the point of quick step? You already need to be blocking to do it, so you're already weathering the attack. It feels like it's just there to look cool without offering any significant benefit.
