Combat is getting reworked, finally. Things like Stone 1, 2, and 3 getting merged into a single ability is shit that should've been there from day one. By the same token, Stone 1 losing its Heavy debuff sucks but it's not too big of a deal. Cross role as opposed to cross class sounds pretty good and those fancy new gauges seem like a fun way to keep jobs unique. I still feel like DPS should be divided into three catagories (melee, ranged, and magic) to help add variety to duty finder but again it's not a big deal. PvP getting reworked to remove stats from the calculation and rebalance the jobs sounds fucking excellent. I always saw PvP as something fun to mess around with at best but now I might actually take it more seriously. Definitely really excited for PvP.

Still, the usual MMO problems are here. Endgame consists of running the same exact dungeons ad nauseam. The crystal sand portion of the Heavensward relic weapon quest was a massive offender that definitely took it too far. The relic quests in general are way too fucking much until they're nerfed a couple of times, but by then they're too weak to be worthwhile. Palace of the Dead is a nice alternative to getting equivalent gear faster but it gets pretty damn repetitive quick and getting stuck with a shitty party can end a run prematurely. On top of all that, such gear is necessary to participate in new dungeons and raids.

The way I see it, completing something like, say, a new raid, should just give you a piece of gear of your choice. Period. That way, you're guaranteed to complete a set after a set time. It feels good and rewarding that you're working towards a goal. Maybe force the player to start with one accessory, then one armor, then finally the weapon for that job, and they can get the rest through repeated runs. The shit about collecting tokens and thousands of tomestones on top of a weekly limit is just garbage. I can't resub because this is still the whole game's foundation. Fuck MMOs.

You don't have to grind several hours a day to catch up to stormblood nigga just do the msq untill you hit 60, do palace if you need XP and when you reach 60 do dungeons in the order they were released in, and get Khloe's journal. The dungeons will drop progressively better gear and the new player bonus will give you enough tomestones to get a full lore set when you're done. You can also run Alexander and the raids for even more tomes, in fact you can get a free 270 acessory from the third raid. It's super easy to reach 235 this way, and that's all you need to complete the MSQ. This only doesn't work if you don't want to run Alexander/dungeons/raids even once but then why are you even playing this
