kinda mediocre, not a bad game but definitely not as good as some reviewers say it is.

game has a crapload of issues in all areas imaginable - graphics, sound, level design, enemies, weapons, combat, progression, story...

my issue with the graphics is mostly related to the annoying bug where textures dont load properly, so a good portion of the game ends up looking like complete shit.
not to mention that even on max settings the game doesnt look like anything showed in the promotional screenshots.

the problem with sound is that some parts of it are a direct rip off from FEAR, and the combat music can get annoying.

level design and combat issues mostly stem from being a console port.
first 5 hours i played with the default FOV, and this together with constantly looking for fucking mimics meant that i had no idea where the fuck i was on the map.

It's worth a shot if you find it on sale, anyway. Single-player FPS campaigns are my jam, and even if the combat didn't really pan out the exploration of the ship carries the game.

the opening was good and then everything else was mediocre barring the few cool little gimmicks they tossed in (the boltcaster, that water side quest affecting fountains, using the gloo gun to platform around). would've been nice if leaving in alex's pod didn't spoil the fucking ending despite being able to do it as early as ~1/4 of your way through the game.

weapon and HUD take up 1/4 of the screen.
when you start fighting the screen gets dark, you immedieatly get the fucking strawberry jelly on your visor and for most of the time have no idea if you're even hitting the enemy.

its standard console FPS bullshit, I personally will never get over how clunky and cluttered this type of combat feels, especially compared to how it used to be before the genre migrated completely to consoles.

I've played it for a few hours and that was my biggest problem.
It doesn't really feel like you just shot that alien in the head with a shotgun, the only reason you know you hit them is their healthbar getting smaller.
