Production company that owns the Bond rights are holding it. The guy who wrote GoldenEye (The film) and Tomorrow Never Dies wrote most of the games and decides who gets the license. They are notoriously hard to work with. Apparently GoldenEye: Rogue Agent was so bad that they took the license from EA when renewal time was up and same happened with Activision and 007 Legends (So bad they took the license).

No one's going to get it while the production company have massive quality control and expectations.

GE 64 gave them a massive boost on the Home Video sales and they offered Nintendo and Rare TND. Rare turned it down (They wanted to do PD instead) so they gave it to EA who made really bad games (Rogue Agent, 007 Racing) and really good ones as well (Nightfire, Everything Or Nothing).

EON Productions was one of the few that caught on really quick that a really good game helps and they had no problem booting publishers from the license if they didn't meet standards. That's why you won't see a Bond game for a while.

Craig was best. Yes the movies took some tropes from other movies, most notably Bourne and Dark Night, but he's still the best Bond. The character is really not like Bourne at all.

I like it just fine. I liked it better when Matt Damon did it as Jason Bourne. When I went into Casino Royale, I expected puns, girls, orchestral strikes, gadgets in his supercar that made being a secret agent seem like the coolest thing ever. Because I went into a James Bond movie.

Instead, I got shaky-cam, one girl who he fell in love with and never banged, missed shots, he rolled his no-gadget supercar in less than 3 minutes, was stripped and tortured and spent laid up the rest of the movie as it turns out he was completely fooled and the entire mission was a failure. Being a secret agent was NOT cool and he got nothing, literally nothing, in the end.

An alright movie...but that wasn't James Bond.
