I don't know, I just looked and saw it on the PSN though for ps4, trophies don't seem to be tied to battle trophies (well, there are a few, but the highest amount required is 80% trophies, which is totally doable without too much bullshit), so I might get it when it goes on sale.

Think "it was all a dream" but replace dream with "game" and apply it to the whole series. There is a reason why 4 and 5 takes place before 3 chronologically.

The Star Ocean world turned out to be just a VRMMO made by Sphere Corp in another dimension, which explains a lot of the shenanigans that happened in SO1 and 2.
People call it a cheap twist and in all honestly it wasn't that well executed, but it works and made a lot of things make a hell of a lot more sense in retrospect

When I first played star ocean 3 the twist fucking blew my mind cause I was so young at the time. Fond memories of that game. Might emulate it

I never got to play SO3 back in the day. I did unironically enjoy SO4 though, although the voice acting could be grating and the story was kind of all over the place. I enjoyed the combat system, mainly the way you could chain fights together. There also seemed to be a lot of content too.

Is SO3 worth picking up? I'm pretty sure I know the twist already isn't it all a simulation or something? so I don't really care about all that.

It's worth picking up. You can emulate if you want, that's an option, but I dropped the 20 on the PS4 port and it runs pretty swell. Looks pretty nice, text doesn't even seem too fucked which was a huge issue for me on dark cloud/wild arms 3. The games is fairly lengthy and if you're the type of minmaxing autistic that likes to ruin the game for some meaningless baubles, battle trophies will eat your time like no one's business. The actual, sony trophies for the game are pretty lenient though if you're interested in them.

I'd say wait for a sale, if i'm being totally frank. I see it going to $15 or even $10 before the end of the year in a sale, absolutely.

SO3 has double the content SO4 had and a way fucking better story and character progression. You decisions actually matter in SO3 because you could play through the whole game and literally miss your chance at recruiting like 2 people into your party, and the way you answer questions and shit can affect the rest of the game. It's well worth $20 and this is coming from someone who also really enjoyed 4. 3 is one of my top 10 favorite games of all time.
