Why would they do it though? Sony and Nintendo could easily fulfil two sides of the console market here, because a PS4 and Switch is one of the best combos to have if you don't have a powerful PC (I mean, all three is ideal but you know)

The PS4 is actually a pretty good media center and has the architecture for the sake of multiplats, as well as a few interesting exclusives.

Nintendo has the versatility of a handheld, amazing pick-up-and-play power (I've converted a house of non-gamers into Mario Kart fans with it), and the Nintendo exclusives that until 2015-16 have been consistently high in quality.

My dad works for Nintendo and also says that Starfox 0 and Bayonetta 2 is coming to Playstation Switch.

Look, sony and nintendo aren't directly competing. Even in the handheld market they are not. Nintendo sustains itself mostly through their own games which means they don't really have direct competition. Sony however has direct competition in microsoft since they both are more invested in the console market which is heavily in favor of multiplats. They already know that Microsoft is bringing their new home console, the scorpio, to this years E3. And Sony is in the lead currently. It would be very, very stupid if they shifted the focus of this years E3 towards a new handheld instead of trying to one up microsoft. Maybe at TGS you'll see a new handheld since handhelds mostly dominate the japanese market and therefore sony should market their handheld there instead.
