Does anybody like the flying and boating parts of Sonic Transformed? I feel like they made the game worse.
Also the weapon that reverses other players' controls is fucking awful and shouldn't have been included in the game.

it's literally unplayable with huge lag and obstacles not even loading til they're right in front of me (3ds version for reference)

The Kart racing mechanics are fucking on point in Transformed. Unfortunately they're ruined by the garbage boat and plane sections. I don't find either of them as intense or as fun as the kart segments.

Diddy Kong Racing only got one sequel, and it was more of a remake.
Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed is the latest game in that franchise. If anything, people arguing for the first one are meleefags.
CTR's sequels were uninspired compared to the original. They just lack the love and care that Naughty Dog put into CTR. That doesn't make them bad games, but they're kind of cheap knockoffs made to milk the franchise.

The idea is to start the drift for example to the left and while drifting start holding to right/bottom right to make the turn less steep.
Also if you're playing Pura or Polar they kind of just turn too much for good drifting in many spots

Did Allstar Racing Transformed even sell well? I mean I think the game is fantastic, but it's hard and fairly niche.

Also is there some sort of odd momentum system at play in ASRT? I've noticed I've been mid boost before, but will get passed by drivers who aren't boosting at all. It feels like the longer you drive without hitting anything the faster you'll go, to the point that your normal speed will be above another racer's boosting speed.

I've yet to find solid numbers for 2017, but given that it is available for a ton of platforms+PC I imagine that in the long run it has done well enough to warrant a sequel.

Regarding momentum, the other drivers just might be rubber banding assuming you've been playing against CPUs. That said, I don't know the physic of the game well enough to make a final judgement on it.

Never gave me that vibe but I can see how that observation could be made. Game itself was extremely polished and looked real nice too, held a steady 60fps so it actually felt like you were going fast when you maintained top speed.

That's actually not a good idea, you waste more of their time if they don't fall into a pit, especially with 10 fruit
They also can't pick up items while slowed down
In many situations if you get hit by a clock it's the best strategy to intentionally drive to a pit and get the turbo when Aku Aku brings you back

Mario Kart is what happens when a series runs unopposed for too long. There were a few challengers in the 90s with CTR, DKR and the like but none of them kept consistently outputting titles at the pace Mario Kart did. Mario Kart in the eyes of normies IS the genre - They can't even imagine an alternative, never mind one that's better. They only know Mario Kart so they only play Mario Kart.

It's the equivalent of if Doom had never had challengers in its genre and id just would kept making the same game without fear of competitors. It's like trying to convince somebody who's bought Madden every year of his life to buy a football game with more technical depth and new ideas - Of course he won't fucking bother.
