Basic competency is too much of a time commitment. At some point, you have to have a basic understanding of every ability and item in the game.

I'm not saying this is a bad thing, but a person has to be having A LOT of fun for that sort of time commitment to be worth it. Why not just play a game that doesn't require the memorization of a thousand different tiny mechanics?

If I wanted to play an MMO, I'd play vanilla wow. If I wanted to play a MOBA, I'd play Dota 2.
