PC Gaming

Gee it's almost like there's a reason why PC gamers generally don't buy jewel cases.
Also, I like the implication consoles have a better selection of games, let's see, PS4 has Uncharted and TLOU, Yakuza and a few JRPGs, the 'bone has Halo Collection, Gears of War, and 2 Dead Rising games no one wants
I call bullshit, where's the 300+ copies of random hidden object games?
4 the simulators

Well yeah, PC gaming has gone digital with Steam and similar distribution platforms.
No point in buying physical copies of games unless you have one of those archaic TV attachments that still use discs.

Their pc gaming section has been tiny and trash for over 15 years.

How shit did NigMafia III sell?
Did it flop?
Did PC Gaming ever have a big physical presence in stores? I'm 22 and I've never walked into a store that had more than the typical bargin bin shit, The Sims expansions, WoW/Diablo warchest and some other random games.

Before Gamestop consumed several smaller game and software shops, there was a store called Software Etc. which basically just sold computer software, and a decent amount of its stock was PC games.

Obviously digital hasn't always been a big thing but most of the shit I hear about PC gaming from back then was getting shareware from a friend, going to the library and renting depending on where you lived or just ordering on the phone and getting it mailed to you.
>>377770648
I have shit internet so it's useful for installing games faster
>>377770648
I prefer digital copies of things since I travel a lot and I don't really give a shit about having an attachment to a physical waste of space. I don't need to resell for a pathetic amount of money and I also don't have to worry about possibly getting rid of it some time in the future, aka trash it.

PC 'gaming' is not about video games, it's about benchmarking your rig and buy the latest graphics card or high Hz monitor and brag about how much better you are to other platforms. Oh and also to humblebrag about how little you spent on your rig too!

PC physical has been dead. As much as I don't enjoy my vidya constantly dialing home to a mothership, I don't miss the digital aids that was Starforce, TAGES, or having to hunt down patches manually.
The real question is what happens to these vidya purchases if Steam really does tank. We already saw GFWL shit the bed and left a lot of games broken that went whole hog with the integration.

i think about this a lot
not just steam but psn or virtual console or any digital store

>literally nobody is trying to get a xboner

>>377771532
At this point I genuinely think Steam is too big to fail. If you play PC games, you play at least some of your games on Steam and PC gaming is getting bigger.
Nowadays Steam is like 75% of PC gaming sales I'd bet, and it's not like Valve is some company barely treading water to keep afloat like Sega in the late 90s. There would have to be a series of catastrophic events for Valve to go bankrupt and Steam to collapse. Even then it won't happen in Gabens lifetime and he'll probably live awhile longer.
>>377771883
whenever I hear of somebody I know getting an Xbone I think if only I could just reached out, I could have saved them
for most PC gaming is a bridge too far but what the fuck are you going to even play on the xbone?
>>377770609
Pathetic.You're probably a PC gamer false-flagging.

I agree but there's literally no reason to get an Xbone unless you love Forza/Halo/Gears. Sports games have bigger playerbases on PS4 this gen.

both options are viable
steam will one day go bankrupt and die and you will lose everything
one day you will die and your shitty kid you never spent any time with because you were too busy hording your physical copies will sell your games at a pawn shop for a quick 25% of what they were worth
>>377771883
>xBONER
>>377773002
>steam will one day go bankrupt and die and you will lose everything
The question is when. At this point, Valve is a multi-billion dollar company that's still privately owned, and despite several major blunders they've seen nothing but growth/record profits. Sure, they could go bankrupt at some indeterminate point in the future, but the factors surrounding such a death would be more due to changes in the landscape that bring about stronger competition that pulls the userbase away from Valve/Steam than internal failures, at which point the death of Steam won't even register because nobody is using it anymore.
>>377770137
It certainly did. By I'm 33 and that was a loooong time ago. Now nobody buys physical copies of PC games.
>>377774780
No we won't. If we lost our games on steam then we could just pirate them.
*muh physical copies*
I can pirate old console games and play them on emulators.
