Lovably cheesy story with the best voice acting ever.
Games are usually WAYYY too quarter-munchy in the arcades, US arcade owners do not care about playability, they want you off that fucking machine or putting more into it.

The best two games in the series are the fucking typing games. Typing of the Dead is the greatest achievement in video games.

I used to beat 1 nearly every time I went to the arcade. 2 and 3 are great too. Surprisingly Overkill (Wii) was really enjoyable, as a fan of the series anyway.

2 is by far the best. 3 had some neat design choices but overall wasn't campy enough or serious enough to be a good game.

Overkill was a renaissance and outside of the bosses being too easy, it was the absolute perfect spiritual sequel.

There's an Xbox port of 3 which has 2 as an unlockable - there's an Xbox light gun out there somewhere.
1 was only ported to the Saturn.
4 is only available on PS3, if you have a Move controller.

As much as I love light gun games, they can be pretty fucking cheap.

I've gotten pretty good at Time Crisis, and sometimes the crisis flashes are essentially undodgeable unless you memorize where they are. It's the definition of artificial difficulty- these games have to make money.

CarnEvil is pretty bad about that sort of thing, too.

Reminder that Virtua Cop is objectively the most fair light gun game. The camera design in that series is so fucking good, and every enemy is completely fair. 3 has a few pop-up moments, but they're not as bad as TC or HotD.

I'm so glad I have a home set-up for light gun games. I just wish more of them had emulation.

I loved this game. I beat it after wasting tons of fun factory tokens on continues but I wish arcade style games would make a comeback. I miss lightgun and the arcade style shumps that aren't the skinnerbox shit on mobile or bullet hell autism on pc
