I think what makes Heroes fun is also its biggest downfall.

They streamlined the genre so that anyone can jump in, have fun, and be done for the day after three games.

But they streamlined it so much that the satsification of crushing your enemies through meticulous outplays has also been lessened.

So you dont feel TOO bad for losing, but you also dont get THAT excited at winning either.

Every time you level up a hero, you get a loot box. Loot boxes contain useless crap most of the time, but they also contain skins, heroes and mounts.
This encourages you to play heroes you don't usually play, because leveling them up from level 1 is easier, and you also might have a cool skin to use with them now.
