playing through mage in my first proper playthrough, dropped a merc one 2 years ago.

What spell runes should I go for? I've gotten summon skeleton goblin and fire arrow.

Do I want to go one-handed or two? Str of Dex? I already got 35 str

Quick rundown on Gothic 2:
>shit controls
>shit camera view
>your character needs crouching and grabbing animations to pick up objects, making picking up coins and other scattered clutter an absolute chore
>shit dungeons
>enemies don't respawn
>cheesing the game for gold is way too easy, even a 10 year old kid can do it
>fast travel is almost non existent, the portals are shit, and the lack of respawning enemies make it more of a hiking simulator than Morrowind could ever hope to be

the game was kind of the dark souls of its time, minus the cryptic 2deep4you lore

>extremely punishing difficulty
>action combat often described as "clunky" by newcomers
>barely any handholding or convenience features
>outstanding world design and atmosphere

goblin skeleton will carry you through most of act 1 and 2
maybe get ice ice lance in act 2, good spell
in act 3 get summon skeleton and ice block, these two spells will fuck everything up.
act 4 and onward is pretty much easymode, get whatever you want and melt monsters with it

It's the model for how open world games should be done and excels at offering multiple ways to complete each encounter. Just the entire start of the game is so well designed in how it presents and responds to emergent choices/interactions.
