I think I quantified why I disliked Bloodborne and DaS3, the only difficulty change was

Not him but while Wario Land 4 has an incredible amount of love and polish put into it, the level design gave me fucking whiplash. It took me a decade before I could bring myself to finish it.

I mean, I love slow, methodical puzzle solving and exploration and I love twitchy action packed escapes. But don't force me to redo the slow stuff because I missed jewel piece. Don't put unmarked one way passages to the frog switch. It doesn't even tell you which jewel pieces are available before/after you hit the switch, so you can screw yourself over without even knowing it. Fuck that noise.

Wario Land 2 is pretty tame, easy, and repetitive by comparison but it's just a smoother ride. Despite loving fast action games I still found WL2 more enjoyable.

I didn't have a whole lot of issue with Gaiden and actually liked it quite a bit, outside of the molasses pacing and speed and the maps, otherwise I would've liked it a lot more. I didn't have a problem with the gameplay and it was actually pretty refreshing to play after playing the other games in the series.
Echoes, in terms of a remake, is everything I expected it to be, shitty maps and all, but with a bunch of QoL improvements that made it more bearable to play so I'm pretty happy with it.
