2020 was great but I haven't gotten to play the 1st one or VFD yet. Only played a bit of 2020-II before giving up from lack of moon knowledge.

Everything about this game is mediocre. The story starts to pick up only in the final part of the game, the music is nothing amazing aside from the boss battle themes, And the gameplay, even if it has some interesting classes isn't that great either.
The only part i will remember about the game is choosing the voice actors of my full waifu party.

2020 and the first one were great

I enjoyed 2020. VFD looked nice and had a great soundtrack (at least in Atlantis) but was way too casualized.

I love games where each NPC's dialogue evolves during the course of the game and they have their own little story.
Only other game I know of that does that is Custom Robo.

I've been playing 2020 a lot lately. I fucking love it. I can't into the DS one but 2020 has been a blast and the VFD demo was pretty gud.
I like how these games are basically a return to standard traditional JRPGs but with an Etrian Odyssey style emphasis on buffs and debuffs during combat as well as FOE fights. Honestly I think these games are better than EO games really.

EOU2 and dungeon travelers were better

How though? The game has no sense of balancing, throwing extremely overpowered enemies at you really early on. And worse yet, the game is full of useless near endless dialogue. Why in the beginning of the game was there a long tutorial conversation between two animal creatures about basic RPG stuff instead of just maybe two brief panels explaining directly some of the mechanics of the game? Why is there literal meme dialogue that adds nothing to the story and was only funny several years ago (arrow to the knee)?
