Skull girls has a ton of air options, assists, and is very reset and mix up heavy. It's far closer to marvel or gg then sfii.

A SF2 clone would be WAY more footsie-based, with fundamental skill being rewarded over combos and execution. Skullgirls is more aligned with Marvel vs Capcom, as the game mainly revolves around long combos, team composition, etc.
