"GAF'D" was a common battlecry across zone shout to indicate that, rather than waiting for the established pull time that everyone else in the zone agreed to wait on like civilized individuals, a group of Gaffers decided to be fucking cunts instead.

This continued on for months, and Hunts were ruined for people for quite a while thanks to GAF being impatient fucksticks. I really hope they change shit up big-time tomorrow. Now that I've started playing SCH, I don't see the point in playing any other job. This is just too good.

I vastly prefer tanking to healing, and would rather kill myself than DPS but it seems like in XIV, Healers set the pace unlike most games where the tank does. The DPS I bring when I play SCH competently makes things go so much faster than when I play WAR or DRK with the average healer.

For a bunch of people we're forced to carry through the story for several years now, they are amazingly useless. They can't fight Primals, or Ascians, and only seem to do okay against Garlean henchment because the devs can't be arsed giving the WoL more animations than *unsheathes*, *nods*

I like individual characters in the group, and it's nice that Yugiri and Not!Yda are getting their own development separate from the group but... what do you do with the Scions? Kill them all again, but have it actually stick this time? Throw them into sidequests, against threats they could actually assist with? Ditch them and hope nobody remembers?

Be useful and interesting characters who are capable of holding a story.

The game has relatively endearing characters, so they know how to do it. But the Scions, even in the sidequests, kind of fail at this. Mostly because their entire shtick is to vomit bland exposition at you, say they can help (off-screen, but whatever) and then we never really get to see them as actual characters. The most character we get from them (which isn't even that much) is if you chat to them between cutscenes.

The last thing the Scions need is to be in the spotlight more. They need to be better written. Yda and Yugiri MIGHT escape that with Stormblood, but we don't know, and that still leaves the problem of the rest of them.

I feel like this is more of a problem because the games lacks, for lack of a better word, slice of life sidequests. We're only dealing with the Scions when we need to deal with a problem. We never get to hang out with them just to do so, like Gerolt and the Kettle sidequest. Even out little fight with Hoary and the elf gave them more character than what we've gotten with any of the archons.

Having a Scion equivalent of the Moogle deliveryman quests might be neat. Get to just hang out with them.

I get why they don't do it while the Scions are the 'main characters', if one dies then it might shut you out of a quest, but for me at least that's all the more reason to move them into the background.

I think light is the worst step for ARR relic now. Books aren't bad now that it's only 3 mobs per book instead of 10 and the book fates tend to spawn more often (taken can go to hell though). Being able to run the dungeons unsynced is a huge time saver.

FFXIV is the most baffling MMO ever. WoW at least perfected the formula, XIV took steps back and fucked up and made a corridor or platform simulator, and it's almost like they're actively going out of their way to make the game as bland as fucking possible. There's literally nothing cool or interesting about it; even the cutscenes are fucking atrocious, because it's impossible to make your character anything more than a cardboard cutout making emotes in reaction to the things happening around them.

I'm convinced that if this shit didn't have "Final Fantasy" in the title, it would be considered one of the worst MMOs ever made.
