That aside, I found DS3's bosses to be rather lackluster, with only Aldrich and Nameless King requiring more than one attempt to beat on my first playthrough. Furthermore, even with the DLC additions, I don't feel like retreading the world of DS3. Something about it isn't as compelling as 1 or, heck, even 2, which I played through three times.

Personally, one of the biggest failures of DS3 was that it has no viable fist option. Demon Fist falls flat and Caestus are boring underachieving parry-bait weapons.

After killing Amelia you can get the item you need to access the DLC in the Hunter's Dream, on the stairs. You probably picked it up earlier.

To access the DLC, stand on the body in the Cathedral Ward where you got the Top Hat and wait a few seconds. It's right outside the church.

You can get grabbed multiple times, just get grabbed again and you'll get there. I wouldn't recommend trying The Old Hunters on NG+ as your first try unless you're up for a tough challenge.

Going for the DLC on a new playthrough right after Amelia is possible, but extremely tough. I doubt you would have enough damage output to get past the first boss.

Savescumming isn't possible anymore, you would have had to copy your save to USB before beating the final boss and then transfer it back after beating him. Getting to the stuff you missed on NG+ isn't too hard.
