Dead Space would not benefit because any game where CO-OP is introduced just completely destroys any sort of atmosphere building in the horror genre. And don't give me that shit "muh gameplay would improve". Nigger, survival horror games are all about atmosphere, without that you just have a sub-par shooter you can play with friends.
