People pretend they like Banjo Kazooie but they don't. They don't like platformers, they never did because they are too young. Just like you all never liked Tony Hawk Pro Skater but you do those dumb threads where you post music lyrics and a picture from TPHS2.

Nostalgia based collectathon that ignored the lessons learned from the Gen 6/7 platformers regarding mechanics and gameplay. And had awful level design that was a boring trudge instead of going from one jiggy puzzle to another like the original Banjo.

It was too nostalgic. Even Free Radical realised GoldenEye's main problem was that it was incredibly slow, even for a stealth game so they prioritised much quicker gameplay and a choice of stealth or guns blazing in the sequels (Which were a blend of GE and UT/Q3A by Future Perfect). That's why Timesplitters holds up and Yooka felt dated from the off. Pure nostalgia doesn't work.

Let me break it down for you. A 10 is a game by a large publisher that has a huge amount of paid ads on the site and the game is playable. It can also be used on "indie" "games" to get hipster cred or good boy points with the left. A 9.0 - 8.8 means the game is shit but the ad revenue is paid up. An 8 means the game is good but the developer hasn't forked over the ad dollars. 7 or less is complete garbage.
