Which gun are you even talking about? High gunshot will whiff completely on crouch. Bounce gunshot can be avoided by jumping forward, the only mid gunshot that pushes you back significantly is the meter burned rifle. That is fair because he is using a resource. Meter burn roll is not that slow and you need to mix up the ranges you use it from to be unpredictable.

But no really, most characters have a way to get in (Supergirl's teleport punch, Grodd's leap and he can use his trait to get projectile immunity, Bane's super armor, Flash's projectile immunity, Scarecrow's teleport) or can challenge the projectiles themselves (Black Adam's black magic, Aquaman's tentacle grab, Superman's flying eye laser and air dash) and on top of that there's the roll, but don't do that full screen.

Deadshot has no real combos up close. At best he has the string that hits low and then high, and they will usually try to meterburn cancel it into the knee kick to gain breathing room. Just wait it out and then punish once you get in close.

I only ever use the teleport as a response to zoning. I usually spend the whole fight being an ever advancing menace. My winrate isn't the best though, but that's what happens when you play with a "what would my character do" mindset over what's works the best.
