Between her joining and the end of Futaba's arc there are a few moments that tease the Joker/Makoto ship a bit, but I felt like that was less "this is the canon pairing" and more "give the character who just joined a disproportionate amount of screentime to compensate for the fact that they've had none up unitl now." The other characters past the first four generally get that too, they just happen in ways that are less ship tease-ey (Futaba gets the whole week dedicated to pulling her out of her shell, etc etc) Naoto in particular goes through a similar thing in P4, where she pulls a lot of the spotlight in the month or so between her joining and when Shit Gets Real.

I'd somewhat understand the "Makoto is canon" narrative if the main story teased the ship at all past Futaba's arc, but it doesn't.

On my second play-through and i'm deciding between Tae and Makoto. Who's superior guys?

until Ryuji got Charge/God's Hand which wasn't until pretty late game, Yusuke learns stronger abilities, including the baton pass boosting one, and doesn't have a complete ass magic damage stat.

In the long run, Ryuji does end up being better, but for a majority of the game your boy Yusuke is definitely your best source of raw physical damage, and has a great speed/evasion stat so he's constantly dodging everything.

besides, i like the motherfucker way too much not to use him.

The reality of it is charge/concentrate is a risky move because it relies on you not getting incapacitated on the next. It's fine if you already have buffs up to negate that chance, but out of the blue, it's usually a safer bet to just attack both turns.

Thinking about it though, using charge or concentrate may help you conserve HP/SP during longer battles.

Are insta kill spells generally worth it

it seems like they're a waste since I'm sure every powerful enemy and boss is resistant to them

It kinda went to shit at some point, and some characters like Haru were left out of the overall plot after their arc. The beginning was fine.
I thibkg the battle song should start a bit later or skip some of the begginig so you get the lyrics and chorus faster.

Well Ann is more of a magic nuke in end game and her status condition spells are useful in defusing some annoying enemies. Her tarunda is also useful against bosses. Makoto is more like a replacement for Morgana by end game, decent healer, good support with her defense buffs, sort of meh offensivewise since she doesn't get concentrate like Ann.

I feel like America does college best, it's not just a place to pour your heart and soul into your studies. It's an overall growing experience made to make independent, able to network with people, and become more socially adept. Things like Greek life and clubs, even sports are rarely seen in foreign colleges and foreigners never seem to get enough of it when they come here. Woah! You were mostly right, but no way. College in Japan is awesome. Once you get in, you're pretty much done, even at Todai the workload isn't as bad as overseas ones, there's a great party atmosphere at JP Universities.

Anime are set in 1st-2nd year high school because the target audience is largely teenagers and that's the best years of teenage life, before they kill themselves in 3rd year studying for exams.
