But this is literally one of the major upsides to the game. Its just a balls to the wall nonsensical roster and it makes gives the game a personality it would have otherwise lacked. (Also the character diversity online shits on any mario kart game ever exactly because so many characters are out there and silly and make you want to play them)

It's crazy how popular and prevalent Petey is despite only appearing in one actual game. I think it has to do with him being one of the first recognizable bosses in the main Mario game for the Gamecube, and because of that he was used in all the Gamecube Mario Sports titles.
