Vesperia is polished mediocrity.
It looks good but the environment are all small and boring, the towns are just 2 screens with 3 npcs that say 2 lines each, the dungeons are just boring corridors, the world map is extremely ugly.

The characters looks cool at first glance but the only one with an actual complete arc is fucking Karol, the story ends up being a trainwreck and not even an entertaining one and it has the weakest final and ending in the series

Gameplay-wise it takes quite a bit to open up and when it does it's fun enough except half of the characters are shit to play as. You are left with Yuri, Patty, Judith and Flint to do some cool things during the second half.
The game is also extremely easy, even beyond the usual blah blah blah tidal wave you can abuse the Overdrive and AI in multiple broken ways.

Vesperia has a lot of content which is the one thing it has above over Tales but otherwise it's just your average Tales experience.
