Problem with Aegis' 'development' is that it's the most generic and boring possible. "Robot girl that learns to love and becomes a bland nice girl" is go goddamn standard. Labrys is better due to having an actual personality, and she wasn't even in P3.

Because she's boring. Makoto and Haru are both better executions of Mitsuru's "trope". Makoto is the no-nonsense student council president type who is socially awkward, but she's still far easier to sympathize with because the game actually shows why she feels she needs to live up to so many expectations around her, and for the most of the part she simply just wants validation. Despite her being in a respectable "position" almost no one likes her - she gets shit from her sister and also gets shit from students and the Phantom Thieves. I legitimately felt sorry for her because despite being socially awkward you can tell she's really nice and actually friendly. I don't know if she's my favorite character in the game but I'm not exaggerating when I think the moment she joins your party is by far the most satisfying moment in the entire game. The build up to it was fucking amazing, and she has the best Persona awakening out of the cast.

Haru similarly fills the "rich personality of high social class" but she's not nearly as patronizing, hell she might just be the least patronizing character in the game considering her background. Despite being a rich girl who dresses nice and has people at her beck and call she's deceptively simple, smart, well acquainted with casual social codes and is probably the character that most resembles the way any "normal" polite person would act in real life. The game doesn't assume she's socially stinted just because of her upbringing, she's just a pleasant realist who has no trouble hanging out with friends, aspiring for a humble future, pointing out how the party members lack empathy, and shit she even likes horror movies. She probably only pretends she finds them scary when watching them with Joker so he doesn't feel bad in potentially finding them scary.

Mitsuru's character, and pretty much every P3 character that isn't Junpei are merely archetypes in comparison who's story is "help me not just be an archetype". But her design is good.

Mitsuru's entire development revolves around her father and the events of the story, she's hardly an archetype. I feel like you're judging her character entirely by what's in her social link, when all her development was in the actual plot, and the two weren't entirely consistent. You have to remember that social links were a brand new mechanic in Persona 3, and they didn't want to wrap up the party characters' growth and development in content that the player might not even see.

As much as I love Mitsuru, what the fuck was she doing during the events of Persona 5?

In Arena, it gets established that Mitsuru and friends had deduced the involvement of Persons/Shadows in Inaba, even though it was just a random string of bizarre murders in some podunk town over the course of like a month. But the Phantom Thieves become international news for MONTHS, and they can't figure out anything?

I'm not arguing that P3/4 characters should be shoehorned into Persona 5's plot, but some kind of cameo to show that they were at least trying to figure things out would have been nice, and would have made the inevitable, terrible excuse that Persona 5's spinoff games will give a lot easier to swallow. Like they don't even have to show up on screen, it could just be something as simple as in one of the SIU Director/Sae scenes having some jabroni walk in and say "There's a Kirijo/Shirogane/whatever on the phone for you".

I never had any problems with Mitsuru, and honestly i never had any problems with the rest either since the AI was doing a great job especially when you knew how to use the tactics menu which gives the game a nice depth too it even more so than usual turn based rpgs where you control the whole party.

and it was more fun than p4, felt like you had actual friends.....

I have way more of a problem with Yukari and Aigis's support AIs. The former is retardedly stingy with AoE heals yet will spam Diarahan at the tiniest scratch, and the latter will refresh buffs on herself alone and miss the entire rest of the team since they haven't fallen off yet.

i don't know why but those things rarely happened to me and i agree that they can happen more often with healing spells than any other ones, but again i never seen them use high level heals on scratches if they had the weaker ones. and they even rarely healed me when i had more than ~80% or so.
