Plus, kinda an odd thing to say but I always hated how in most horror movies they never show what happened to the people that got snatched by the monster/killer and maybe only showing their dead bodies later or something.
>>377621326
Absolutely. Extremely autistic and unbalanced, was literally afraid of minorities. Thought he was British nobility (wasnt) and tried to fight for America in ww1 on behalf of Britain, but his mom found out, dragged him to the recruiter and told them how he was afflicted with anxiety attacks frequently. with one arm mind you
there was a setup to allow for walking fire but it was never rteally implemented
it amounted to a holstser-like strap to your chest you inserted it in and used both arms to keep it from bouncing. Problem was that a steady, slow walk across an open field while being shot at and having to reload every 20 shots was found to be unrealistic in combat, so they scrapped that idea and decided to use it like a squad support weapon.
I mean you had crazy shit like the Stinger which was just a modded aircraft 30 cal so you could run around with it and have lots of dakka but I don't think that you were going to get much out of hip fire outside of trenches and desperation
One of the few games that I did not expected to see Lovecraftian shit in there. Actually most of the major themes in this game are direct reference to Lovecraft's works.
>>377622223
>decided to use it like a squad support weapon
Yeah and it kind of sucked at that role being too heavy and without a quick-change barrel.
Also, didn't Patton praise marching fire? That always throws me off because the tactic is so self-evidently absurd, but Patton was a pretty effective general.
>the Stinger which was just a modded aircraft 30 cal
Huh? What's that?
>>377622202
Yeah, but I just remember what players can become by end-game. Clad in armor literally forged from the blood of demons/eldritch horrors, loaded up with so many different abilities you can do shit that breaks reality. Meanwhile you are flooding the world in lava for your farm and are literally unkillable
I mean prototype literally has you as the collective consciousness of weird bacteria

IIRC, the 30 cals on aircraft were scavanged since they had a higher rate of fire
http://www.guns.com/2012/08/15/stinger-light-machinegun/
basically it was lighter and fired more dakka
Well the idea of marching fire is effective, just not that specific method. It amounts to keeping up a steady base of fire while approaching closer to the enemy so he can't trap you at a distance and tear you apart.
When applied to tank warfare it amounts to what every single side used against each other and Patton especially so since he kept up a heavily aggressive attack that prevented the germans from regrouping and digging in.
For all of the soviet's flaws, Zhukov was their one saving grace and he perfected the idea to the point the germans were running out of things to throw to hold their ground. of course this is undermined by stalin and every other general being complete sodding idiots

You've expected a movie depicting abominable dead people in a bad light to be good to him?
>>377622735
You said eldritch horrors, there are plenty of lovecraft stories that deal with normal people being transformed or becoming into eldritch horrors
it was part of the horror since everything was about how the dark gods were just aliens and that we were just as weird and alien to them as they were to us and any attempt at inter-mixing caused both sides to change into something completely alien.
>>377621862

Unfortunately it isn't imo, and I was so fucking hyped for the movie. The acting is pretty bad and you can smell the low budget all over the place. Fortunately the practical effects and some sets are fucking stellar, the effects team knew what they were doing.
It's really sad seeing great practical effects couple with bad writing, acting and directing. A noble effort nonetheless, but I wouldn't particularly recommend the movie to a general audience unless you're just curious in seeing some cool practical effects, because that's the only part of the movie that holds up. IMO anyway, now I wonder if it was just me that didn't like the movie and it ended up being well received.

>>377622391
>Also, didn't Patton praise marching fire? That always throws me off because the tactic is so self-evidently absurd, but Patton was a pretty effective general.
Its not terrible if you have a weapon that can actually suppress the enemy. (but still inferior to support from a static machine gun emplacement, or ideally, armor) Unfortunately, the BAR was utterly inadequate in that role.

The Thing was almost universally hated when it came out. You can still go to Rotten Tomatoes and click on Top Critics and the score is like 20%. Carpenter himself said everyone hated it and he took it hard. Funnily enough Blade Runner was also released that year to similar hatred.
What I'm trying to say is between these movies and how every single boiler plate superhero movie these days is rated 70+% perhaps movie critics aren't a great way to determine quality
