I don't know why people think kids magically turn your previous life upside down. Of course it comes with sacrifices. My wife works in special education and does home visits. I agree with that, but what always pisses me off is how this mentality seems to only be applied to video games. You don't see any news reports about fathers who hide themselves away doing other shit and missing family time. No one complains about the guy who spends 18 hours in his mancave watching sports or whatever the fuck else. But video games, oh, they're a problem.

My dad, for example, builds models. Model planes, model trains, model cars, and has an obsession with football. When I was growing up, when he wasn't at work, he was doing that. They believed it was mom's job to run the house and take care of the kids, and dad's job to go to work and make money. Father of a newborn here. PC gaming is dead to me. I can't get into anything long enough to enjoy it. You almost need a free hand constantly, feeding, burping, rocking or just holding her. Once she gets asleep, my loud ass click clacking wakes her instantly, not to mention the light and sounds right by my face are right by her bassinet.

But console gaming is still easy enough. TV is far away enough that light isn't a problem. Sound is easier to manage too. I can lay back and keep her on my chest (she sleeps better on us than in her bassinet, so we let her lay there when we don't want to sleep too) with both hands free for the controller. Most games can be paused with no problem for feedings/changings. MP games I don't care about losing so I'll just AFK or quit.

I've actually played more since her birth, not much else I can do while taking care of her.
