I use Turtle Beach Z22's and I'm impressed. The new virtual surround sound offered by Windows 10 is really awesome, it sounds like helicopters and shit are really above my head.

These are my second pair. My first pair lasted years and I wasn't exactly careful with them. Great headphones. Use them for everything, not just games.
Doesn't have a mic though, so I use a desktop mic.

DT770 80ohm. You don't need anything special to drive them, they're comfy as hell and they sound beautiful.

I'm curious, does anyone know how audio was mastered on older portables and how it would sound on modern headphones? I remember even 2008 £5~ earbuds made my GBA sound like ass when I wanted to play Aria of Sorrow or Pokemon Silver.

Good that this threads come up actually, I was hoping someone might be able to help me with my next headphones purchase.

I've used the ATH-M50s for 2 years or so now and they're starting to fall apart. They're a fantastic pair of headphones but I want to upgrade to the next step of quality headphones.

Money isn't too much of an issue. All I want is whatever is the next step up from the ATH-M50s. Closed back preferred.

Bought a pair of Hyper X Cloud II March 2016 and they still work flawless. I just never use that shitty added in virtual surround sound shit.
Mine came with Siege too for 90 bucks its a pretty good deal
also love the fact this headset works perfectly on ps4/xbone/switch

I use these bone conduction thingamagoblins. They let me hear what happens in the outside world yet hide lewd moans coming out of CM3D from my roommate. If I want to block outside noise, I just use earplugs.

They actually are really comfy. The orange things reside in front of your ears, not in them, and they're really light so you don't even notice them most of the time. The only awkward things are the driver that you have to clip to your shirt, otherwise it tugs the thing off your head, and you can't use a headrest because they get pushed forward.

I've had the M50X for a couple years now and the ear pads are falling apart. Feel like shit now because I paid around £90 for them and the only decent ear pad replacement seems to be Brainwavs for a whole £20. Any alternative suggestions?

I currently have DT 990s which were 3 times the price while I also had to get a headphone amp for $100 bucks. My first pair died after 4 years and the new ones are one year old but the right ear is somewhat quieter than the left one.
I like them but the next pair is going to be something better. The mic is good (at least that is what everyone on the recieving end says) but the sound is medicore at best.
