ive never seen so many people so out of touch with reality. these people are so heavily invested in this game and they havent even worked out yet that the ideas this company are putting fourth simply are not possible in this decade and will not be possible for the next 20+ years

the ass hurt when these people finally wake up from their idealistic daze is going to be so insane and im going be there stoking the fire
>>
well there's sonic fans
>>
>>377578704
Is the fan base even divisional?
Nobody really expects a full release? Do they?
>>
>>377581182
yeah they think theyre getting a fully released version by 2019. the truth is it would be easier to a put a real man on the moon then create even half of the ideas this company is putting forth

its 5 years into dev and they still haven't even got past a walking simulator as of yet
>>
>>377581356
I thought it was 2 years into dev? I don't follow it though
I never played into the game but it'd be cool to see the singleplayer come out, I don't care if they ever get their multiplayer out of alpha

I'm not pretending the game is going to be what they claim, but your post is false. There is currently functional dogfighting, ship racing, and a first person shooter that you can actually play right now.

more delusional and out of touch with reality than SCfags?

probably /v/.

But at least they'll get something at the end of their wait, eventually when they realise it's a disappointment and doesn't live up to their hopes.

Instead, you'll get the brief blip of joy knowing that for a brief second, somebody was as miserable as you are, before you go back to your sad, sad life waiting for the next "tortanic" to come around so you can begin the process again.

So, either you think 5 years is a long time because you're underage, or, you think 5 years is a long time in the videogame industry because you're underage. SC is going to be shit even if it ever comes out, don't get me wrong, but "how long it's taking" definitely wont be why.

DayZ fanbase is similarly delusional, but at least that game will be finished. So maybe they are not as delusional so much as overly defensive and protective of the devs. It's a weird hugbox community that look even weirder in comparison to Rust where bashing the developers is pretty much a meme that the developer participates in.

its just pretty much like an urban legends at this point. its like a story you tell around the camp fire thats so good it could never be real

the devs are dreaming if they think they can accomplish even half of what they say they are going to release. they literally release more ideas than content. its absolutely astonishing, they are completely blinded by ambition

i think all the money they stole from their fans has gone directly to their heads, because anybody with any sort of experience in game development knows the devs are not being realistic
>>
>>377583305
no because no mans sky wasnt crowd funded. not only that but one of highest earning crowd funds in human history

this is going to be criminal disappointing. like to the point somebody may go to jail
>>
>>377583305
No? Its already pretty fun, just lacks content. Space combat is good, though a bit of a clusterfuck with all the effects going on, like when your shield is hit and it covers your entire screen.

First person combats pretty good too. Floating through an abandoned space station or ship is great.

The game just lacks content, but I'm confident the single player game will be good, just looks like the mutliplayer element will get old fast, but who cares about that shit. I backed it for a new Wing Commander. Also the fanbase is fucking insane so fuck multiplayer.

Because they development is so open, we can see what they're trying to do(FPS elements in space) and some of us just wanted something completely different(freelancer 2).
We are also pretty risk averse and would rather some focus over the wider scope. Quantity is not quality.
>>
>>377585506
The end product means, quite literally, the last revision of the product. If Star Citizen's dev team all jumps ship overnight, the most recent alpha build would end up being the end product, albeit a really shitty one.
>>
>>377585404
because chris roberts is exploiting, robbing and raping the life out of people and its interesting to watch these people justify his actions. star shitizens are in a deep state of delusion. something usually only observed in cults. but playing out right before our eyes on the internet, its a very disturbing dynamic to observe, but you cant look a way.

this cult will not stop until it has ran itself into the ground at full speed and when that day happens i will be there to observe it all

the problem with Star Citizen can be traced all the way back to its graphics. Did they really think it was a good idea to try and pull something like this off while spending millions on fancy high def graphics? If you really want to push the envelope of game mechanics and the limits of your engine, why would you further tax it with needless graphics? I say use Ps1-tier graphics as a placeholder, iron out the details of the game mechanics and gameplay, then give it a good HD touch-over.

The community is not helping it either. The devs need some sort of real fire under them to get them to understand they need to reign back and condense what they want to do but since people are still just throwing money at them they will never get away from feature creep.
>>
>>377588872

>Literally nobody in the gaming-industry cares what /v/ thinks about a game

That's because everyone in the gaming industry knows that /v/ is just play acting.

Almost everyone here plays the latest AAA release from the major publishers. And they fucking like them too, they just pretend not to when they come here. The only ones who are being sincere around here are the genuine nutbags, e.g. waifufags.

They for sure will release *something* to have a line of defense against lawsuits and Uniform Deceptive Trade Practices Act, although Kickstarter is a godsend in that regard already, seeing how the money are donated and they're not actually obligated to produce anything.

>>377588973

>Torment
>good

It's a fucking scam, fitting a Star Citizen such as yourself considers it "good".
>>
>>377588928
>they need to reign back and condense what they want to do

thats another reason why the devs are insane, because instead of doing that they release new ideas instead. this game is only getting bigger and bigger in chris roberts mind, he throws out new ideas at the drop of the hat with his voice or on his keyboard. but when it comes to actually implementing them into the game thats a whole different story

chris roberts is descending into the darkness and he hasnt even realised it yet
>>
>>377588945

>Almost everyone here plays the latest AAA release from the major publishers. And they fucking like them too.

The last AAA games i unironically enjoyed were Skyrim and Far Cry 3. After that it's obvious that the triple A companies couldn't be trusted with even a casual but somewhat fun expereience, seeing how GTAV, Fallout 4 and MGSV turned out.

Things aren't impossible just because they've never been done before. Most companies have a vested interest in keeping costs as low as possible and getting the maximum possible return, so they would never even try anything as ambitious as SC. The reason why it will never be released as advertised is because CIG just doesn't have the skills and the project is plagued by feature creep and constant revisions. They routinely throw out months worth of work because Roberts decided he wants something different now.

>>
>>377585139
Well, they ran out of money. Tried to cover it up with more SHIP SALES. Sold themselves to Amazon. Never announced any of this. Won't until the end of the year.

Actually, everyone can read this one:

>>377578704
Star Citizen blew through their entire 150 million budget. What you see is what they managed to do. Now they are owned by Amazon. Yes. Really.
>>

>>
>>377596016
The solo campaign Squadron 42 will 100% receive a release. The MMO on the other hand...
>>
>>377596583
More: Gary Oldman is suing Star Citizen for using his image inappropriately in marketing materials and for breach of contract. This has chilled Star Citizen on showing any of the other assets they generated from other real name actors.

>>377596723
SQ42 is/was in a complete mess and nothing useful has been done on it in months. All hands are on deck to try and appear productive for the sake of Amazon. Word is, they are considering outsourcing the entirety of SQ42 to another developer or canning it entirely.
>>
>>377596946
it was showed on one of the recent vidya so no.
>>
>>377596723
>>377596946
Further, if it ever does come out, it will be a console targeted, multi-platform release. Reason being, anyone who would buy SQ42 has already bought it. Console is the only market they have left untapped.

Originally it was going to be a single release. Then it became 'episodes' where the first few are what people bought. Then they realised even that would cost more than it would make, considering the cost of the games ongoing development was eating up massive $$$.

Motion capture is one hell of a drug.

they didn't have the 150 million at the start, they got it gradually (duh), and they had to start a company from scratch. they're well within the normal timeframe for a game of this scope, and have already shattered many barriers people said would never be breached: localised physics grids, true newtonian flight model, etc, and all at levels of interactivity and fidelity never before seen.

i know you and all the other naysayers will be buying in once 3.0 hits.

This will be Freelancer 2.0. Amazon is about to kick Roberts off the project, release a minimum viable product that represents about 12% of the promised featureset, and then make it F2P to try to make some money off of it (since literally everyone who would have ever bought the game already has, and that money is already mostly spent).

Tbh it's mainly because it's redditors. These people will always fall for whatever marketing campaign people play on them no matter what. They are the same people who defendend No Man's Sky with tooth and nail despite everyone seeing the incoming flop a fucking mile away. Normies can't think for themselves, they let aggressive marketing campaigns do it for them and this game just so happens to have a pretty big forum stealth marketing presence.

based on all current and previous examples of gaming and technology we can safely assume that the game chris has proposed is complete and utterly impossible to create with our current technology

there isnt a single example of an mmo with graphics as good as star citizen. let alone cry engine or an mmo with such a huge seamless open world, interplanetary travel, AAA tier fps mechanics, thousands of vehicles, a rich and deep story line, intelligent ai and npcs, plus the myriad of other features they are proposing

there is absolute no proof that a game like this is even possible to create. let alone by a hack like chris whos churned through failed project after failed project for literally his whole career

https://venturebeat.com/2017/05/03/chris-roberts-no-pressure-to-make-star-citizen-absolutely-perfect/
>“That’s one of the things I find very attractive about [the project]: I don’t feel the pressure to have this one release be absolutely perfect,” Roberts said. “I feel like it’s an ongoing relationship with the people, the community … . And as things get better, we can improve it. We can improve the stories and add more content. It’s an ongoing process.”

What a fukin hack
>>
>>377602629
There actually, are, because they processed VAT which is for products and not pledges, so it turns out they have contractual obligations and cannot just waive them through EULAs. That's why they're always granting refunds when people say they're gonna notify the authorities.
>>
>>377603781

He's basically seeding the field for the day when it all goes belly up.

>it’s an ongoing relationship with the people, the community

Hey Chris remember how people gave you lots of money to basically make Freelancer 2 but you couldn't contain your megalomania so you started basically leading people on to give you more money for a game that's not possible to deliver?

>And as things get better, we can improve it. We can improve the stories and add more content. It’s an ongoing process.”

He's getting ready to pull a No Man's Sky, you can read it in his phrasing.
>>
>>377603781
You can stop him anymore. The only way is for the "community" to realise that.
>>
>>377604217

He'll release some mimimum requirements placeholder and will be done with it.
>>
>>377604521
No man's sky is a very different case, a small game made on a shoestring budget into which people mistakenly invested all their hopes and then decided to blame the devs' mouthpiece by pretending what they imagined on their own must've been the devs' lies. They weren't asked to fund the development, either.
>>
>>377605005
