Not if you supersample.
I run one at 3440x1440 and it's good for that.

If you have 1080p I'd say run it at 4k for scaling.

Supersampling is nice but unless your monitor is 144hz or have a VR headset you're probably better served by a 1070.

I own a 1080 and there are a lot of games I cant run @144fps(if you're into that kind of thing)

Just get a proper monitor since you're willing to spend so much on a gpu.
A monitor will last you longer in use as well.
People going out and getting 980tis and 1080tis but then they're stuck on the same old 60Hz 1080p monitor is annoying to see.
