What are some good survival games that take me in the middle of an outbreak ?
Not before (resident evil 1) or after (Left 4 Dead, State of Decay,Dying Light) but exactly IN the middle of the outbreak when the virus is revealed in broad daylight and people start panicking with everything turning to shit.
Do not post Resident Evil 2/3 or any Dead Rising because too obvious.

Hm I want to say Days Gone but it seems to take place after its happened, otherwise right in the middle is ....kind of a tough call

Only for the first Scenario. Otherwise you're just in the "during" section that isn't actually that radically different from 2 or 3.

The prologue of the Last of Us takes place right as the outbreak is starting and is a pretty neat way to begin the game. Afterwards though it just becomes post-apocalyptic.
Otherwise, as other people have mentioned, RE Outbreak takes place at the start. Also, RE3 technically starts just a little while after the outbreak gets going, so shit is still going nuts.
