Social activism is really impressed with the whole concept of "raising awareness" among the public, but it's highly questionable if "raising awareness" even means anything in any meaningful stance. It gives /v/ a reference point to attack journalism, but /v/ always hated gaems journalism. If anything the illusion that journalism was "fixed" wound up killing discussion on the matter.

There is also a not-insignificant overlap between /pol/acks and GG. Not because GG is inherently alt-right, but because both GG and /pol/-types frequently find themselves on the same side of the fence on the matter of "free speech" and accusations of moderator corruption. There are meaningful parallels between the GG drama on /v/ and the various alt-rigth drama waves on Leddit building up eightchan and voat respectively.

When people say GG was a mistake I have to wonder though, a similar sjw fuckening was happening in comics and there was nobody to really offer any real resistance, next thing you know Marvel went full retard, replaced as many established characters with women as possible, packed fucking politics into comics where it didn't belong and are harming the comic industry.
Regardless of how you feel about GG don't ever support sjws, they do nothing but lower the bar of quality and suppress content.

She got huge support on Kickstarter, got advertisement and monetary support from famed developers like Schafer, and she even got to present her arguments to actual developers within EA.
