It wasn't rushed at all. In fact, it was delayed from its original release date last year. The team behind it were just completely incompetent, with no experience of making a AAA video game. No, they hired cheap rather than because of actual talent. Much of the dev team were fresh out of college and/or new to the industry, looking to get a foot in the door. They even hired people from the fucking fan community to work on it, in roles they were completely unsuited to.

Andromeda was EA's experiment to see if they could make a game like Mass Effect on the cheap, and it blew up in their face.

After the success of Mass Effect 1, Bioware decided to change up most of the writing team to make it more of a dumb action game. They were clearly hamstrung by having to take a good, interesting setting and turn into schlock, but they figured it out.

Then after the Mass Effect 3 debacle, they decided they couldn't fuck it up even worse.

Somehow they did.

I wrote a six page essay on this question and the gist is as follows:

The point is that Salarian females are so rare and held in such high regard culturally that the Salarian Union is pretty much a matriarchy.
Yet in MEA we see a Salarian secretary and a Salarian Dockworker. Honestly if the Salarian Captain or the Initiative Director where female i could understand, but even then it's highly unlikely a Salarian population of 20k would have more than 2 or 3 salarian females at all. More likely just several clutches of frozen eggs.

The rarity of Female Salarians is an intentional choice anyway, Fertilized Eggs become Female while Unfertilized Eggs become Male. Fertilizing females is seen as a political act not out of necessity or due to rarity.

It's stated that a Salarian female produces about a hundred eggs per year, which hatch into males if unfertilized and hatch into females if fertilized. I double checked the wiki, Females are rare because Salarians imprint on whoever is near them when they hatch, making them loyal to that person. So they gotta be careful about how many children get spawned to prevent armies from being raised and clan wars from happening.

I can deal with the explanation that the females that are seen came because the dalatrass/political/matriarchal life simply didnt suit them. There's a fertility doctor, an initiative tech, a black market dealer and the original Salarian Pathfinder that are females.


But the only Female Salarian in Andromeda that has me scratching my head is the Secretary/Aide to Director Tann.
