4U is a better intro to the series. Generations is fine but it's more for people who have been playing MH for a while. It's a lot of fanservicey stuff and has no story at all.

I mean MH is never gonna be a rich deep cinematic experience but I liked MH4U's story well enough. It starts off a lot easier than past games, probably still plenty of people playing online too.

To add to the first point. You have the option to pick the "old" style of hunting and not equip any of the Hunter Arts. So saying Generations "ruined" Monster Hunter by adding flashy new moves and some variations on how the game plays is for mouthbreathing retards who cannot resist the things they claim to hate.

Also if you hate how other people play in Multiplayer or if you think their usage of Hunter Arts/different Styles "casualize" your experience remember playing Multiplayer with 4 hunters is casual no matter how you cut it.

Many of the randoms online are carried scrubs no matter their hunter rank. They probably never cleared Village too.

Learn how to play the game yourself first before you dive into the cancer of triple carting mongs who will beat the monster that was just brought to sleep for sleep bombing or become one yourself.

If they don't continue with the things they added in Gen, you are going to get your face kicked in for the next mainline monster hunter because Gen lowered the skill floor so far OP. But knowing Capcom, this spinoff is going to be Incorporated into the mainline.

If you played Gen well, you will not need to make another set than what you've got. How's that for perspective? There's no reason to grind for shitty parts for shitty armors you wont be making. You'll need to do just a couple of hours of grinding to g-rank max out whatever weapon you're carrying in from Gen, and then when you beat the final boss - that's almost where all your effort is going to go into making a new set since it has such neat armor and weapons - but nothing truly interesting to deal with after that aside from the absolutely unfun super deviants.

They're even more retarded in XX's G-Rank, but still that's really only two monsters in Gen that are difficult - and they're pretty late-game.

140 GQ's were more challenging and rewarding in 4U than any hyper metal rath or the super deviants in XX, so there's some opinion on what defines being "hard" there.

I wouldn't consider the super deviants to be hard, i'd consider them broken and unfun and probably even untested. It takes speedrunners over 10 minutes with Adrenaline + Heroics to solo them, where Adrenaline and Heroics were otherwise banned / it's own category that barely didn't matter because of how much significantly easier it made an already pretty easy game.

Swimming's movesets needed to be more similar to movesets while on ground, and underwater movement needed to be more intuitive, or at least needed to go into more detail how dodging worked underwater.
'Verticality' and mounting needed to have more weapon classes capable of being able to mount monsters without a shitton of ledges all over the map, since fighting around ledges would often lead to unneeded damage being taken due to a dodge being changed from interacting with a ledge. And mounting? It was nonsensical that anyone other than the mounter harming the monster could cause the mounter get thrown from the monster should it flinch.

Its still a shame they actually took the time to do quality of life changes for their verticality and mounting, but just removed swimming altogether.

I'd say play MHGen simply because that's the way the series is going.
Having an end game armor will help you when XX comes out since you can just transfer the save over and start at G-rank. Unlike 4U which didn't have it's high-rank only version localized, most people will be doing the save transfer.
