Let's compare Ken and Flash, both impulsive, fast, springy fighters from different games

Ken's stance is light on his feet, his whole body bouncing up and down, left and right in a rhythm that gives him an air of unpredictability. His hands are up, ready to strike, one floating in front of him while the other is back, ready for a strong punch. It conveys clearly that Ken goes from 0 to 100 in a second and it really fits his fiery personality

Now let's look at Flash. He's also fast and cocky but his stance makes him look like a bumbling retard. His legs go up and down too but it doesn't make him feel light on his feet because they are glued to the ground. His arms float around to try to convey that he's fidgety but his back arm spins around like one of those visual gags where someone prepares a punch with one hand just to slap the other person with the other. The core issue with Deadshot is he sacrifices very little for his zoning power. He's got pretty decent combo potential and mixups, meaning he can still hold his own quite well if someone does get in. Sure, people will whine incessantly about his zoning power; but that's just what his character does. Being able to zone efficiently AND have good combos is a no-no, however.

Hell, I'd say NRS games have turned into a form of "babies first steps" to get into fighting games. I like them for it. I would put Darkseid instead of Scarecrow and include Aquaman. Scarecrow just has a bad time against rushdown and against full screen zoners since his teleport is just a little too slow. All the well rounded characters will be strong.

Supergirl will be the weakest top tier since her damage is so low compared to all the others but will be a counter pick for hard zoning.

I think no one actually gets into GG because the entry isn't that easy even with great tutorial. It's definitely not a game where you can switch characters on the fly and each moves are so specialized that you can't just mash it out as a scrub.

It literally does though. It's not deep or the deepest game by any means but the meta is not reflective of the actual depth of the game and people are often referring to the meta. For example: the problem is the mechanics of the game allow you to simplify gameplay by blowing up a lot of setups with wake up jab if your opponent isn't frame perfect. That's a player error AND flawed game design but the truth is no one wants to sit in training mode practicing frame perfect jabs while they are perfectly capable of doing it. Instead you get people bitching about WAKE UP JAB TOO STRONK which really isn't true. There's also TONS of options to counter dirty gameplay but no one wants to take the time to get their counters down.

The problem with NRS animations is that they're all mocap and they do the bare minimum work to touch them up, so they end up stiffly realistic. Fun fact: a fair bit of SF5's more understated moves (probably mostly normals) were mocapped, and then HEAVILY touched up which makes them fluid and natural. NRS has spent years doing that first half better than most in the industry, but I think they just don't want to accept that the second half is not only acceptable but necessary.

Most people consider the story mode to be the training mode. It's such a shit intro to each character they should just remove the fights entirely and make it a 2.5 hour movie. Would still be better than BvS.

And its not even because of zoning, I just really hate the online because of the input delay. Yes yes they switched to GGPO with MKXL and Injustice 2 has it as well but it's still really awful with the dial-a-combo design. I keep whiffing even the simplest special moves or cancels because I did the combo too late, but then if I do the combo too early, the game reads the last button with the directional input and I get a different move altogether

Ex. I want to do Black Adams forward 1 2 and cancel that into black magic, but online the game will often read the black magic input as down back 2, so I get lighting bomb isntead. Its so fucking infuriating. I have no issue with the moves offline, but online is a whole different story, even with the best connection. Injustice online is like the complete opposite of most online fighters, usually you can get away with things because online your combos still come out despiute not being as precise but in IJ2 the combos fuck up with the fraction of delays in button pressing.
