You're right, nothing will replicate old GMS in its prime.

However, that isn't to say private servers can't offer a bit of fun. If they get it right, you'll at least get something a lot better than nuMaple.

My biggest gripe with Private servers in pre-bb is that they require you to use the older MS client which is absofreaking dogshit and most of the private servers i've tried so far always have stuff broken like quests (YES I KNOW quests in pre-bb) and some items tend to even be broken as well.

my last private server I had to have a couple of programs and some executable hooks just to run the game in borderless windowed with scaled resolution without aspect ratio stretch and it often crashed, I am just spoiled with modern tech amenities.
