What genres are you looking for?
I would recommend Simcity 2k or 3k. DOOM is pretty fun, and for that matter Doom and Doom II are pretty great too. Starcraft is good. Binding of Isaac is fun in its own way, and Super Meat Boy is a fantastic platformer.

If none of these tickle your fancy, give me an idea of what you like so I can narrow my suggestions.

The internet doesn't seem to like Western games much these days is mainly what I've noticed though that's pretty much the point it wants to try to make anyway. Something to do with the rampant paranoia about SJW's creating an almost unbreachable trust gap along with just the kinds of people that seem to talk about games on web based internet forums nowadays. Doesn't mean they aren't popular at all or well liked by anyone or they'd never ever sell, it's just that the internet and the kinds of people that lurk forums about stuff like games in general have too much baggage and are too busy having specific shitposting agendas and spewing memes and anger about shit surrounding games to convey that at all let alone ever admit it.

It's by and large just cherry picking and opinion whoring anyway. Japanese games are the greatest especially when they have full throttle fanservice and/or pedophilia and such, Western games are all shitty liberal agenda's by feminist game designers strictly because of the type of punditry featured in 2017 internet message and image boards. This is the narrative these people WANT to portray and have already decided on for themselves clearly, it's just a matter of how much bullshit people are willing to spew versus what the industry volunteers it for fuel that decides how stupid it all looks reasoning wise.

I guess what I'm saying is I suspect should this thread last it'll just be full of a bunch of rhetoric and people's nonsense and not even come close to reaching any sorts of conclusions about what western games are "good" which wouldn't be following the narrative much now would it?
