I'd be totally for it, 100% both games and honestly didn't see much wrong with the protagonist of the second game. The only thing I really disliked about the story on the second game was how Mercer became an edgelord offscreen because of some random girl the game made no mention of and we had to read a comic to know about.

Heller's character didn't have a lot of depth compared to Mercer. His objective was simple "kill Mercer" whereas Mercer didn't have a direct end goal and his story focused more on finding that goal.

I fully agree Heller was a one track mind protagonist and not nearly as interesting as Mercer in P1, but he did have good reason to be pissed at all time so I didn't mind it that much. The plot definitely could have used more of them interacting with each other and Mercer trying to subdue that hate though, maybe it would have lessened the impact of Mercer going full edgelord if he at least tried to reason a little bit with Heller(and thus the player) why he thought the way he did.

I can't see a reason for it narratively unless they pick up where 1 left off and ran with their original Pariah plot thread.

Mercer actually has a lot of room to grow as a character due to the nature of his existence. I'd love to see a game that capitalized on that, but no we get 2 where he goes full blown cartoon villain for no reason.

Mercer pulling a chessmaster to get Heller to absorb him and then just take over to gain the power to beat Pariah would be a good way of going about it. Make it so Mercer was just playing a character to antagonize Heller and realize his goals, also highlights how Mercer should be a fucking 12th level intellect by now with all the scientists and shit he's eaten.
