Didn't even care about 10xx GPUs because there are simply no games I'm interested in to justify the purchase and play them on my 24" monitor.

I actually want to upgrade my CPU first to 7700k, gonna need to buy a new mobo and DDR 4 as well so it's not very cheap.

When the 1080gtx came out I made the jump to 1440p and for me personally it's been one of the most satisfying upgrades I've made for my PC since I originally built a PC in 2005. Altogether one of the most expensive as well though, if you want a 144hz 1440p monitor they are still very expensive.

480/580 + freesync would provide a better budget experience

1060 and 480 are legit some of the best midrange price/performance cards there have ever been. You really can't go wrong with them if you're looking at 1080p. Although at this point with the new line of cards on the near horizon it might be better to hold off and wait.
