Arthur and Charlotte are both okay, but nothing special. Charlotte's more of a glass cannon, Arthur's more well-rounded but has abysmal luck so on harder difficulties you can expect him to get critted pretty often. Really it's a question of whether you have better axe users, since lances are always the most common enemy weapon you face past the first couple of chapters.

Birthright is awful. Seriously, 90% of the maps are just rout maps in an open area where you form up and wait for the enemy to kill themselves on your front line and pray to godo reinforcements don't spawn and kill your backline before you can move them.

Just started Act 3.

Music is god tier but aps and enemy placements are fucking god awful, DLC is a triple scoop of bullshit, and the game still manages to be extremely easy. But I do like a lot of the characters and I really love the dungeon exploration and small skirmish systems in it. Hopefully they use these in FE: Switch.

It's alright, a bit easy for a while and generally speaking the maps are very similar of course. I get that they wanted to be (sort of) faithful but that doesn't really do the game any favors in this case.

The story is easily better than Fates, though that isn't exactly a difficult task. And while many will say the characters are better than Fates/Awakening, outside of comparing Alm to Corrin, I don't necessarily think that's true. The lack of support content leaves many lacking and ultimately just makes them more bland than gimmicky.

The most mediocre Conquest units are Nyx, Odin, Arthur, Selena, Beruka, and Charlotte. They still have some uses, though:

>Nyx - Early magic damage and hits harder than Odin.
>Odin - Pairing him with Elise early on allows you to access a paralogue with a fantastic magic user (His kid, Ophelia.) and several useful tomes normally exclusive to Birthright.
>Arthur - Pairing him with Effie early on allows you to access a paralogue with a pretty good wyvern rider (His kid, Percy.) and an opportunity to earn gold, which is scarce in Conquest.
>Beruka - Extra flying utility and good pair-up bonuses.
>Selena - Can be reclassed for extra flying utility and healing. Her base class has nice pair-up bonuses, too.
>Charlotte - Nice pair-up bonuses. Absolutely perfect as a pocket unit for Xander. Difficult to use otherwise due to her paper defenses.

I recommend just using your favorites. Even if they're bad or outclassed they'll still serve you well in some ways.

I've used Charlotte in a few runs of Conquest and she turns into an absolute monster if you give her Sol from Hero skill line and something to help boost her hit rate like Heartseeker.

I s-ranked her in one playthrough and gave her certain blow from sniper tree. Put her in Berserker again with a killer axe and watch her go.

As a huge fan of Gaiden, I am glad that the only changes they made are ones that emphasize what makes game unique. Skills from weapons make you want to use weapons to compliment the character, rather than switching all the time. The dungeon crawling was made a bigger feature so that it set itself apart in the aspect more, and the grinding feels less like spamming the same shrines over and over. Mila's Tunwheel is a nice little option so you can undo fuckups where you weren't thinking, but it is never forcing you to use it (though it shouldn't go so far back). And the writing in the translation has been great.

You should promote right away to save you time, since in this game the benefits of maxing out your units level is minimal and your exp gains after a certain level will be lowered greatly making the cost-reward poor.

That being said, if all you care about is maximizing stats to the absolute highest possible degree and you don't mind wasting hours grinding... leveling your units all the way to 20 will give them a chance of gaining a couple/few more stats than average.

Mindsets like this are why Skill is now a pretty much worthless stat in modern FE games.

Bows should have a lower chance to hit than melee weapons. It's realistic and helps balance there range.

I can't help but feel like I am doing something horribly wrong. I am playing on Hard/Classic and my Pegasus knights feel so fucking useless. They only deal 2 damage per hit unless they land a crit and even then it is usually only 8 damage they do. Not only that but they can barely take a hit which would be fine considering that Pegasus Knights have a high dodge chance but I have yet to see any of mine dodge a single hit. I am currently at castle Zofia and I don't know what to do with them. Should I just never use them? Do they get better later on? Is the difficulty the problem? Or am I supposed to grind the everlasting shit out of them in one of the dungeons until they are actually useful?

You don't have to use pair-up if you don't want to. Attack stance is for higher hit rates and for a weaker unit to get a chance to kill the enemy. Enemies use it to so the game expects you to use it also.
