I remember playing the leaked version, it had better Pop mechanics than Vicky 2, while keeping its simple industry and trading system.
All the while having HOI3s combat and research mechanics.

I can understand blobbing in EU IV but CK II has a lot of roleplaying elements. And playing as a tiny nation next to an empire is more exciting.

Honestly, the best way to learn to play the game is to watch a competent LP on youtube and reading some VickyWiki pages.

Basically in the early game you should be trying to get your literacy high as possible while trying to poach some of the one state unciv minors (Tunis, Johore, Brunei) while not getting your infamy too high. Demanding province concessions from China is a good strategy, too. China is too vast an area to carpet siege but you can win a few quick battles and if you grab a few provinces you'll have tons of soldiers and resources
