Don't worry, modern arcade machines are god-awful. I mean it, they're worse than you think. Mostly online-enabled trading card games and gambling. If you go to Japan, make sure to have really low fucking expectations in terms of arcade. I had to scour the fucking city to find myself something fun to play.

Heres the weirdest thing.
Arcades are coming back a little bit in the UK in shopping malls. You even have ticket games in places like Hollywood Bowl.
Some of its mobile adaptions like flappy birds and doodle jump and crossy roads, but then you got Pac-man, coin launchers, gun games, and some racing cabs. Ususally Mario Kart but a couple of others.

One bowling ally I went to even had a DDR machine at one point till it broke.

Arcades are pretty much reserved for seaside resorts here in Britbongistan.
You've got Namco Station as well, I only know of two though, you get the odd machine at a cinema, but it tends to be a UFO catcher.
The machines here are usually a mix of light gun shooters that we've all played before, you have the good ones like House of The Dead 4, and the not so good ones like Terminator Salvation and racing games, like the dogshit Fast and Furious ones.

Lots of machines now are pretty much big screen versions of iOS and Android games like Fruit Ninja and Infinity Blade.

It sucks.

Theres a 2p F-Zero GX cabinet in Lanzarote they managed to finally get fixed.
(Albeit with cheap lcd screens that they dont even try to cover up a bit. You can still see the bloody TV logos there man)

That little arcade on puerto del carmen is pretty ok to me. The racing games give you two goes a euro, and the basketball and air hockey games are fun.

I felt like an outsider who invaded with their permission. Honestly don't know how some people cope. I think they fool themselves into believing nothing is wrong and just go about their day oblivious to the fact that everyone hates them. I wish I was capable of doing that.
