I actually really BotW Zoras.
When I first saw Sidon in the E3 trailer I really wasn't into it. Though then it also turns out that Sidon in particular has the biggest fish head in the entire game so he is somewhat of an outlier.

But I like it. They're colourful. They have various details and quirks to their visual designs that stands out and is memorable. Some of which are derived from actual familiar sea life. I like it.
I never had anything in particular against OoT style Zoras. But I do indeed find this more interesting and pleasing than the translucent and relatively samey design of those Zoras.
