Up until the 16th century there was no difference between a two legged dragon and a 4 legged dragon, and wyvern was just a synonym for dragon. Only in the UK in the 16th century did suddenly some autists want to make a distinction, and wyverns were still seen as just a specific type of dragon. In the rest of Europe there was no difference.
