You can now go to either AAI or AJ, it doesn't really matter. Most people play in release order (trilogy -> AJ -> AAI1 + 2 -> DD -> SoJ) and you can play Layton vs Wright and DGS anywhere you want in there
>>377461649
He's actually one of the most clever and competent prosecutors besides Edgeworth, and in SoJ he really shows that when working with Athena. I hope he's going to be a staying prosecutor for at least one more game.

Exact same reaction here, it's become a trigger phrase for me.
EXTRATERRITORIAL
Is there a witness who seemed like the bad guy, but instead was a good guy instead? I've played all the games but I'm getting a blank, all I can think of are the opposite, good guys that were obviously villains.
>>377463121
There's a few good red herrings
>>377463121
Datz Ara'Bal I'd say was, if you mean 'bad guy' as in culprit of the case. Also, Penny Nichols possibly, if you realize she doesn't get much screentime and therefore start to suspect her, before finding out she really is just a normal girl, basically. And probably other witnesses I can't think of right now.

That would have worked well, except one of the new characters was a woman with huge 'balloons', and as a general rule that instantly makes her the #1 suspect since AA hates boobs.
>>377463896
Viola isn't really much of a red herring because the case shows you the villain in the opening, and Ben (& Trilo) is ruled out pretty quickly.

It really, really doesn't matter in Ace Attorney if you know who the villain is. Usually you can guess through pure elimination anyway.
Takumi based the series partially on Columbo, and it's always supposed to be more of a howcatchem than a whodunit. There's a few cases that aren't, but that's the general rule.

>>377465040
>dies in the second case of the first game
Fact is that if you ever see a woman with huge tits, suspect her immediately. Even if they somehow aren't the killer, they'll still be antagonistic or a criminal somehow, assuming they don't die.
>>377461649
I ragequit when 5-2 AKA Not-Japan happened

>>377467606
JFA is nearly universally considered the worst game in the series, dunno what you're talking about. Nearly everyone agrees that everything in JFA except for the final case (which is one of the best) is the worst in the series. AJ is pretty engaging and fun, but they should have either made it a Phoenix story or had the balls to completely cut him out and make it Apollo focused. Instead you get Phoenix as this sudden genius mastermind chess master for one game, leaving Apollo underdeveloped and hard for the audience to latch onto. They tried to rectify this in DD and SOJ but it was too late. They did the same shit with Athena in DD too, which is why she took such a backseat in SOJ.
>>377467551
>>377467759
>>377467981
Whats with the hate on Klavier? I thought he was pretty good and presented a good challenge for Apollo in his cases

>>377467574
>until she's grown up
She is 18 years old in SoJ.
>>377468158
>JFA is nearly universally considered the worst game in the series
I don't think that's true, people say that about AJ and AAI too.
JFA has the advantage of having the last case, and thus the biggest amount of time, be the best one. Yes, AJ has a phenomenal first case, but you spend much less time with a first case.
>>377468215
It is the worst but you might as well play it, it's still AA.
>>377467960
>Trial and Error: The GameSeriously, I freaking loathed this mechanic.
>>377468181
Lack of a character arc where the whole game seemed to be set up for him to have one, seems to be defense half the time making the court feel too easy.
>>377468215
>worst case in history
yes
>I should skip it
no. the worst ace attorney case is still better than most video games. Use a spoiler-free walkthrough, because the complaints are more about how monotonous some of the investigation shit is
>>377468215
I won't lie, it's really fucking bad. Go through it, though, the final case is arguably the best in the series.
>>377468365
Edgeworth has the best ability by far
>Phoneix sees giant padlocks
>Apollo sees weird ticks
>Edgeworth just makes logical sense of the situation and comes to a conclusion
at least Apollo gotthe part with Kristoph's hand and that eye twitch he had, I was actually kind of creeped out by it
>>377468215

>>377468328
>>377468403
>>377468471
I planned on playing it anyways, but cool. I never actually knew why it was bad. I literally just finished the tutorial case of J4A., so I probably have a bit to go until that case anyways.
I am losing will to play this game because I loved Ema from the last case of the first game, and now I am forced back with Maya. I don't like Maya.
>>377468383
>Not blindly objecting to everything like Edgeworth

>>377468365
>>377468742
You'll like the second case then
Also, Ema comes back in the later games
>>377468746
that's not really a trait edgeworth has though
>>377468181
>a good challenge
You mean how he let you walk all over him, actively helped you, and was never more antagonistic than calling you schoolyard bully tier nicknames? Well I don't suppose it could be because he had no character arc whatsoever despite the main villain being his brother, or his 2cool4u aesthetic and repetitive guitar riff meme objection, or the fact that said aesthetic led to the absolute worst case in the franchise centered around poring over an incredibly shitty song. Truly baffling that anyone could consider him anything but a 10/10 prosecutor.
>>377469178
second case, being this Reunion, and Turnabout case, or the next one.
>>377469178
>Also, Ema comes back in the later games
AA4 Ema isn't really something that recommends the game to fans of Ema.
>>377469359
Reunion is the one, yeah
>>377469274
In the first game he does. They even make a joke about it.
>>377469308
The fuck you talking about man. Everytime Apollo makes wild conjecture, Klavier tells him to prove it.
>>377460716
most of /v/ probably doesn't know how to sage
>>377463581
Penny Nichols isn't recent though. Also, they reveal Florent L'Belle as the killer in DD's second case, Aristotle Means seemed pretty obvious to me, especially with the "Ends justifies the means thing", Ga'ran became pretty obvious, and Roger Retinz applies to "big dude with 'airtight' alibi".
What do you want AA7 to focus on?
>the growth of the Wright Anything Agency/Athena as a lawyer
>Apollo's Khura'inian adventures
It'll probably have both because
>Apollo and Trucy STILL don't know
but what do you want to be the main thing?
Is it fine if I play PLvsPWAA before AJAA? I just finished PWAA Trilogy on 3DS and I want to play some more before my DS flashcard arrives.
>>377470031

>>377470031
What needs to happen to get Phoenix to move to Khurain and Apollo to come back to Japanifornia? I liked the Phoenix/Rayfa and Apollo/Athena duos but we're stuck with the opposite of those things now
Also some acknowledgement that Phoenix & Trucy are supposed to have a father/daughter relationship would be nice I guess, I dunno.
>>377471803
Khurain, Nahutya, Rayfa, and everything related to them will at the absolute most receive a passing mention in the next game, which will take place after Apollo has fixed Khurain and returned home.

Simon Keyes was a worthy final boss
>>377474150
Which case out of the 5 was your favorite? Also, other than the Mastermind, who was your favorite culprit?
>>377475221
Definitely Case 5. Everything in that case blew the other cases out of the ballpark for me. It even beat 3-5 and 1-4.>Debeste proving he is THE BEST>Courtney showing emotions>Bringing down not only Blaise but also THE true mastermind>The final confrontation with the mastermind, a constant battle of conjectures and scrambling to bring up evidence>THE FAKE BREAKDOWN
If the Mastermind isn't my favorite culprit, it'd have to beBlaisesimply because it was utterly satisfying to take him down.
Should I buy Justice for All? I hear it's one of the weaker games, other than Apollo Justice.
>>377476820
If you're planning to play the games after it, yeah. This isn't really a series where you skip games.
>>377475743
It was satisfying to take him down, yeah. So, after this game, where would you rank Kay in terms of Ace Attorney assistants, and what did you think about her involvement in Case 4?
>>377477043
It's the only nintendo DS game I'm missing. I think some references were made from Justice for all in trials & tribulations and other games that went over my head. Guess I'll look for a copy then.
>>377460696
>That Franzy
>>377477796
Honestly, I still don't like Kay too much. She's much more tolerable than AAI1 but that's not saying much. Her Little Thief gimmick is still enjoyable more than just Mai tagging in or Trucy. Case 4 was pretty complicated. But the end to it was definitely satisfying and made me appreciate Kay more.
>>377460696
>>377460773
I found the photo in a much higher resolution.
>>377476820
JFA is definitely weaker. Case 1 is bland since it's a tutorial case, case 2 is alright, and case 3 is either OK or absolutely horrible depending on how much the idea of a circus case appeals to you.
Case 4 however is fucking incredible and a serious contender for best case in the entire series.
