My guess is that the team behind it split off onto other projects and have different ideas they want to do. They probably got bored with making platformers because Nintendo already creates a ton of them.

I doubt sales has anything to do with it because Wario titles usually hit a good amount just off brand recognition alone.

Master of Disguise killed it, and Nintendo went "Well I guess people don't want Wario platformers anymore"

Both Master of Disguise and Shake It were made by two different development studios that were completely different from the teams that made the original Wario Land games. Master of Disguise was made by Suzak, the same team that made the GBA F-Zero games and some other shitty ports/shovelware. Shake It was made by Good-Feel, who went on to make Kirby's Epic Yarn and Yoshi's Wooly World.

Why are people so down on Shake It? It plays well, animations are gorgeous, the art style is easily better then NSMB with it being actually hand drawn, brought back Captain Syrup, good OST, and is just well made in general.

Shake It's level design has more of a straight forward action platformer feel to it while previous titles were more about taking the time to discover/solve things within the stages.

Shake It's levels are specifically designed so you enter one way and run out through all the previously closed off locations on the way out. 2-4 were more about exporation.

You've got buttons, gyro and waggle on each of those joycons. You've got weird, quirky character designs and gameplay that lends itself perfectly to a party situation.

I'd love to see another Wario Land but at this point they're not even using WarioWare when they should be. A Wario Collection of any kind being announced at E3 would make my year.
