I know this is a meme, but all Souls games literally need you to get good at them in order to enjoy them. The first few bosses will kick your ass and make you frustrated. If you replay the game later they'll be really fun cause you'll run circles around them and try risky fun ways to kill them.

raw ass deals 167 (214 upgraded with titanite) damage early game
dark hand has 238 base + scaling so will hit 300+, and uses punch moveset so it only consumes like 1/3 the stamina and hits faster, so you can chainstun an enemy from full stamina for 4-6x the damage of raw ass and not worry about running out of stamina while blocking or having a slow swing get punished
