I'm just learning how to into fighting games properly, and I'm finding Jack-o to be the one I'm most successful with against the people online. Plus, her moveset is just funny to troll my local friends with.
Is it a newbie trap to main her? I feel like she has a low skill ceiling?

I had a friend that I practiced with regularly that mained Sin, he beat me easily when we started off but he quickly hit that plateau where he could no longer rely on Sin's high damage and couldn't keep up in areas that cost him matches.

I play on PC, so along with the overall low player base in general, I've only played against one Elph that didn't seem to be able to pull off a lot of the reload combos.

I've been a Sol main for a long time. Rev2 doesn't even come close to the worst nerf he's ever gotten. I'm gonna start looking for subs though. Besides the 5k, I wouldn't even say Sol got nerfed. His new 6hs is great and leads into new combos midscreen and corner, and you can use it better for pressure, his air bandit revolver gains you massive frame advantage and he still has some of the best damage and stun in the game.

It's an odd game. It's like Izuka, but trying to be more like Smash Bros. It still has the tremendous issue of not having a block button and opting for blocking being back to whatever direction you're facing. They should've just copied smash bros, you can't have a 4 player fighting game otherwise.

Ky and Sol will teach you fundamentals. Both are really good at it, while one is more zone-y, and the other is rushdown. I'd recommend learning one of those two, since they will force you to have solid fundamentals in order to achieve something.
With Ram, as long as you can convert one hit into death, you are good with her. Doing this is her gameplan, and you don't even need a solid neutral, since most people will drop their combos because of her hurtbox. You can be a good Ram player without even being a good player to begin with.

Each version had its unbelivably broken character, with no single exception. GGX Johnny, GGX2 Eddie, #Reload Eddie (which was an ultra nerfed X2 Eddie, but still on the top) and Slayer, Accident Core Pot, Eddie, Zappa, Testament. Sign Ram and Elphelt, Rev Johnny Elphelt and Sin.

If you believe that ANY low tier characterhad a single chance against ANY top, then you're utterly wrong. On Rev 1.02, you had Johnny, who could loop unblockables, be positive on WHATEVER he does, kill half of your bar off a single touch and then follow it up with an unblockable for 20-40% more damage, and his moves cover half of the screen with ease. On Rev 1.02, you also had Jam, which could be thrown on her basic pressure, had abysmal damage and no range. If for you, this is good balance, then you're an absolute fucking retard.

This character kills you off a simple confirm, while also having some of the best Slash buttons in the game. She's not in the same spot as Slayer where you have to take some extreme risks to get it. She's not in the case of Potemkin where you have to wait 30 seconds before it's your turn. She's not even in the case of Leo, where anything that has a projectile is a huge problem to him. And Leo is considered mid. She has issues, but you wouldn't possibly be able to quote them other than the extremly false "muh unwinnable neutral"

They are definitely underwhelming, but the serve their purpose kind of correctly. With them, you can sacrifice the mediocre KD you get with j.2D and get an additional YRC instead. And you can manage to not die thanks to those if you get your j.H blocked. Not game changing, but still an ok addition.

I don't know, Potemkins almost always win against me in this game. I just don't know what to do with May. My projectiles get either deflected or just punished durings startup with a fullscreen 236S and everything else is absorbed by hammerfall.
It wasn't like that in #Reload, I swear. I used to beat hammerfall going under it with 3C and FRCing dolphin tackles but now they just armor through the 3C and punish with YRC and FRCs are dead.

And also don't try to overextend too much. Potemkin is extremly good at punishing hard predictable gameplay. Always play the safest you can, since the reward off the not safe-thing you'll do will probably not be much better than Pot buster + oki.

The matchup is kind of hard to deal with if you're not familiar. But the rule is simple : play as safe as you can.

Depends on the game.

In a fighting game, if someone taunts it needs to be something they earned. If they're wrecking me so hard that they can get a taunt in and whether I punish it or not they still win? Good on them. But they have to understand they can't just throw it out willy nilly or it has no value.

However in a game like, say, Overwatch, with more people and where the combat isn't constant, if something exceptionally funny happens I'll sometimes leave taunters for the sake of it being just them messing around.
