I really want to like Don't Starve, but like many survival games, you just hit that point where you can survive and just get kinda lost as to what to do. There's just a lull in the middle that I can't stand.

Invisible Inc is probably my favorite, though I'm a little sad their expansion pack threw the game outta balance.

I like Don't Starve but don't call it a rogue like, it's nothing like one and barely even qualifies for Rogue-lite. The only thing is has is perma death (Which you have ways around) and random world generation.

Nethack was my favorite until I got so good at it that I can just win every time. I'm not autistic enough to do the "conducts" (ie beating the game without food or without praying) so now it's just a slog.

My current favorite roguelike is either Tales of Maj'Eyal or Stone Soup.

while i love a lot of games in this genre, i really just don't like the term rogue-lite. It's almost as bad as metroidvania but worse, it has even less aspects to rogue than the older genre of rogue-likes.

That's not true. "every time" is certainly an exaggeration because sometimes you'll get unavoidably fucked over by a gnome with a wand of death on the first floor or a random fatally poisoned spiked pit before you get boots but it's pretty easy to play it safe.

Keep in mind that a lot of good players win rate is artifically reduced because people savescum, and people who have a LOT of ascentions will usually use very unsafe tactics early so that they can get a lucky fast win, like quaffing fountains in hopes of getting a water demon wish

I'm not going to try to prove it but I either win or get to Gehenna and then get bored and quit with a complete ascension kit about 80% of the time these days. More often than not I quit out of boredom because everything after you arrive in hell is fucking boring

i'm talking about how pomf123 and elyina allow their neckbeard brony friends on the server and allow MLP ERP, i got permabanned for killing horsefuckers ERPing in the dorms like 5 or 6 years ago. the 4chan ss13 servers were always absolute trash for things like this. /tg/ didn't have the brony shit but the staff played favorites and would respawn/heal/traitorize/spawn items for their friends.

I have been playing SS13 for 14 years and was one of the original developers

Neat, but pomf is only the host and barely does any moderation duties and I have no fucking idea who elyina is. ERPing is a permaban predicated by getting sexual harassment bears spawned on you, and everyone peers through the public logs these days so everyone will find out.

The only real issue with the server these days is we have several weebs who don't RP much.

still sounds pretty terrible, forced RP is what ruined SS13, since the game started as a simple atmospherics simulator, then became a NO RULES survival horror game, where you don't get permabanned for "griefing"

well, elyina getting demoted is a good start, but who's to say pomf didn't replace him/her/it with someone worse, since he is the root of the problem? Especially since you said he doesn't do any moderation duties, he had to hire someone to pick up the slack, and if he is that lazy I bet they weren't interviewed and their social media presence scanned for any cancerous elements.

then again, i'm not sure why we're even debating this because i'm permabanned anyway and you can't evade bans by spoofing hardware ID's anymore. i guess deep down inside i want a new place to play, but being the #1 griefer in the game for over a decade in retaliation to all the RP garbage, and ban evasion methods being patched out means i have very few places to play anymore.

There's a pretty decent mod team as it stands. And even the admin logs are public, so after the round ends you can see whatever actions they made and the forums even have a section for deadmin requests and feedback.

Also it's only an RP server in theory. Pretty much all that means is that you can't run around and toolbox people for no reason or blatantly metagame. It's not like Bay where you're expected not to know what a Tator is.

I basically only play on lifeweb during the weekends, and rarely at that because it's a no rules server like old SS13, and I generally die in the first 2 minutes and not really get a chance to learn anything.

Not trying to toot my own horn here. but I have done basically every single possible thing to do on goon code, and I am banned from every single other server besides goon, W40K (which i am pretty sure is dead now anyway), and lifeweb. The only way I could get unbanned to play elsewhere is to replace every single piece of hardware in my computer to get around the hardware ID bans.

i might have been a complete fucking prick and admin abuser for a very long time, but i have since grown up and realized that i have to reel it in, or soon i will have no place to play anymore at all, because even though lifeweb has "no rules" that also means no rules for the staff, and if you piss off Randy's drunken slav ass, you are gone forever.
