Snapmap has more limitations than Spore Creature Creator. I hit the level complexity ceiling before I was 1/4th the way through creating the basic layout with no items, demons or scripts. It's goddamn useless.

In my experience, Nightmare also makes enemy projectiles faster. You really need to pay attention when dodging those expertly led throws. Sometimes it feels like imps are lobbing plasma over a fence indirect artillery style with what looks like accelerated gravity to make it fall on top of you faster.

Why does it cut off so abruptly? It sounds like you're leading into something while talking about the pistol then it just ends.

Like the video overall, although I feel like your gripes about the upgrade system are a little overblown, I find they add another layer to strategy and don't find them as overpowered as you seem to think. Also, without any upgrades there would hardly be any incentive to explore the levels and find secrets (one of the great things about DOOM imo)

It seems to be a bit alienating, as you, as a player with hundreds of hours are telling people the only way to play is without upgrades and on nightmare, but I do agree with most of your points in the first half

Once I got the rocket launcher they lost their appeal. I thought they were kind of anemic compared to that but I guess they have to be. Plus when you fully upgrade the HAR's scope the sound for it firing just kicks ass.

Gauss cannon was fun as fuck too, especially with the charge-damage mod.

I've stopped upgrading the SSG altogether because it's too OP. Also the dual shot upgrade makes no sense. Sure the whole game is full of guns that need no reloading, but it feels like a slap in the face when the one gun that actually does reload suddenly fires 4 rounds from two chambers. It feels like blasphemy to admit it but Brutal Doom does it better with its secondary fire

It astounds me to no end how incredibly poorly id and Bethesda gauged which aspect of DOOM'16 would be the most appealing, releasing a bunch of DLC no one wanted to buy for a multiplayer mode that no one wanted to play, while just sort of accidentally creating the best singleplayer FPS of the last decade with no plans for any major expansions there.

Hopefully this at least sets their priorities straight for the sequel.

I think they should try to change glory kills so that player still has control. Doomguy grabsa demon and crushes its skull with his boot, but at the same time the player can still aim and shoot. If the animators insist on panning the camera to view the carnage, no problem. With the advent of VR, many developers have had to made HUD elements 3-dimensional, meaning that things such as a crosshair exist in the 3d space and are not just flat on the screen. It was the first thing Carmack did when signing up with Facebook. He converted Quake 2 to support VR.

While the camera pans down to look at a demon getting btfo, the crosshair would virtually remain in the same orientation the player left it in. The gun points to an area in the game world and the crosshair corresponds to the aiming. Assuming that you even have crosshairs enabled unlike me. Anyway the point is that after the brief animation of grabbing a demon, doomguy could still be waving his gun around and the player could be attacking, while the kill animation plays. Doesn't matter if you're not exactly looking straight, you remember what you were shooting at, and your camera position will return in less than a second. Before modern VR there was eye tracking, and I remember that in a game expo there was Arma 2 with eyetracking, that let you keep your gun sights at a corner while approaching, during which you could be scanning your surroundings, but you were still constantly ready to fire at the corner if a threat was to emerge. That's how it would work if glory kills retained player aiming control throughout the kill sequence. Your vision simply temporarily points into a different direction than your gun.

Like, one GK could be an arm-rip that kills the demon in question, but gives the player a single-use melee weapon that could stun weaker demons and knock back bigger ones.

Another could be some sort of stomp that just finishes off the GK quickly but doesn't offer a lot of health, versus a pummel that takes multiple strikes but spits out more health based on the player's timing.

GK should have really been just a grab command where you can do a secondary input for a variety of effect, like having a melee attack, gun attack, use the poor little demon you grabbed as a shield or weapon in creative ways and so on, as they're now they're fun and really give the RIP AND TEAR vibe, but after a while they do get boring.
